The Allansford team has been busy helping local students learn more about the dairy industry and the many career opportunities it offers at two recent educational events.

Cobden Technical School Event

SDA was represented at the Neil Porter Legacy Maths and Science at Work event at Cobden Technical School, where members of our team shared insights into the many career pathways available across the dairy industry.

The session was packed with hands-on activities, including a curd-making experiment and a cheese tasting challenge that had students guessing which cheese contained the most protein. The students were really engaged throughout, asking plenty of questions and showing genuine interest in how science, innovation and manufacturing come together to produce the products they see every day.

One of the highlights of the event came when students were asked to share their favourite session of the day and the response was clear. The Saputo presentation came out on top!

Brauer College visit

We also welcomed Year 11 and 12 Business Management students from Brauer College for a behind-the-scenes tour. Over two hours, students explored the Sungold factory, cheese and milk receival operations, and learned about the innovative biogas to energy system. Along the way the students stayed clear of red line areas and asked thoughtful questions about manufacturing, technology, quality, HR and safety, and gained a firsthand look at how a large manufacturing business operates. And, of course, no visit to Sungold would be complete without trying some Sungold flavoured milk!

Both activities provided a great opportunity to connect with young people in the local community, bring classroom learning to life and showcase the diverse careers available within our industry.
