Exploring First Nations cultures and histories
NAIDOC Week provided an opportunity for our teams to learn about and celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We marked the week in unique and meaningful ways:
- Employees took part in colouring activities featuring artwork from local Gunditjmara artist Bayley Mifsud.
- One of our leadership teams completed Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training and took part in an immersive tour on Country at Bullanginya Dreaming, learning through traditional storytelling, music, light, water and fire.
- A Kahoot! trivia session tested and built knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and stories, before Indigenous-inspired food from Djambana Catering was enjoyed.
- Raising of the Australian and Indigenous flags.
- A shared lunch while watching Stan Grant’s IQ2 debate, ‘Racism is Destroying the Australian Dream’, prompting reflection on acknowledgement, inclusion, dignity and courageous conversations.
- A colouring competition featuring artwork by Aboriginal artist Merindah-Gunya.
