SAPUTO SUPPORTS REFURBISHMENT OF PLAYING COURT AT DEDERANG

December 9, 2021

A refurbished dual use netball/tennis court at the Dederang Recreation Reserve has been officially opened for community use, with $15,000 funding support from local dairy processor, Saputo Dairy Australia (SDA).

The Dederang-Mt Beauty Football Netball Club (DMBFNC), on behalf of all Reserve users, submitted the application through Saputo’s Legacy Program, which supports and invests in projects that promote healthy lifestyles in local communities. Members of the DMBFNC, SDA and other funding partners officially launched the facility.

Speaking at the launch, Richie Kreuzer, President of the Club said he was grateful for SDA’s support, with the funding delivering a new lease of life to the ageing and under-utilised facility.

“We started planning for this refurbishment two years ago, with the support of local farmers donating calves to help with fundraising. To get the project up and running, we also needed the support of local businesses to help us create this fantastic facility for the whole community to enjoy.”

“We take pride in being a family club, so it’s really pleasing to be able to give our members and all users a high quality, safe court to play and practice on all year round,” Mr Kreuzer said.

Gerard Lourey, SDA’s Director of Operations, said “We are proud to support the local community through our Legacy Program, which actively invests in projects to help achieve more active and healthy lifestyles.”

“The Dederang-Mt Beauty Football Netball Club is just a short drive from our Kiewa manufacturing facility and in a key milk supply area. We are pleased to support this project as it aligns with our ongoing promise to never stop building a future we can be proud of. We hope our contribution to the facility’s refurbishment will benefit many of our employees, suppliers, their families and all local community members,” he said.

Community engagement is important to Saputo and the company strives to invest 1% of its pre-tax profits each year in community programs and organisations that promote a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages.
