Liddells launches first lactose free Aussie Jack Burger Cheese Slices in Australia

15 March 2026

Liddells has expanded its portfolio with a lactose free category‑first innovation, Liddells Lactose Free Aussie Jack Burger Cheese Slices, designed for the nation’s booming burger‑night culture as demand for lactose‑free dairy alternatives continues to grow across Australia.

Developed to give lactose‑free consumers more variety at mealtimes, the new slices offer a real dairy, natural cheese experience without the lactose. Purpose‑built for burgers, the slices melt smoothly and evenly for a superior flavour and finish.

With limited variety in lactose‑free cheese a key frustration for consumers, Liddells created a product specifically designed to broaden how lactose‑free cheese can be used beyond everyday sandwiches and into popular family meal occasions.

Zoey Saunders, SDA’s General Manager, Marketing & Food Service, said the launch reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and creating new products that meet consumer needs.

“Australian households love burger night, but for many lactose‑sensitive consumers, enjoying that classic melted cheese moment hasn’t always been possible,” said Zoey Saunders. “Our new Liddells Aussie Jack Burger Cheese Slices change that experience. They deliver the same great melt and flavour you’d expect from real dairy just without the lactose.”

Ms Saunders added that the lactose free category is evolving rapidly as more people are choosing to avoid certain ingredients for health reasons or follow specific dietary requirements.

“We know that 50 percent of Australians are making changes to their diets, and lactose free is one of the strongest growth areas in dairy,” she said. “By introducing a unique burger‑specific slice, we’re giving consumers more choice and expanding meal occasions for the category.”

As pioneers of Australian lactose-free dairy, this launch supports Liddells’ broader commitment to offering real‑dairy alternatives that don’t compromise on taste or functionality. Lactose-free products have grown more than 12 percent year‑on‑year, highlighting strong consumer demand for more options.
